The Latest Audio Justice Status Updates

Audio Justice is the musical output of multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter Dan Furr. Each Audio Justice release is written, recorded, produced and performed by Dan.

Having spent a few years developing as a live band, Audio Justice played far and wide alongside bands as diverse as Enter Shikari, The Sweet, The Subways and Saxon. While Audio Justice gained acclaim for their exciting live shows, Dan was unconvinced they were reaching anything close to their potential and shifted his focus to the recording studio. Isolating himself from the rest of the band, he set to work on a collection of songs that would become the debut Audio Justice album Overdrawn At The Memory Bank.

Before the songs could be presented to the rest of the band, however, erstwhile drummer and long-time friend Lee Haynes died suddenly, aged just 25. Lee's death signalled the end of the band as a group and Audio Justice became the vehicle for Dan's recorded output, where he often played every single instrument himself.

An intensive six month recording period followed and Dan released Overdrawn At The Memory Bank to critical acclaim in 2007. Sound on Sound, one of the world’s biggest selling music recording magazines, applauded Dan for "a very slick and contemporary sound" and concluded that the album "is very impressive, especially given that Dan has played all the instruments himself". Meanwhile, Heart FM were drawing parallels with Foo Fighters, citing Dan as "the UK's very own Dave Grohl; writing, recording and playing everything himself", just as Kerrang magazine were suggesting that Audio Justice should be "listened to by everyone everywhere at least once".

A must for fans of alternative rock music, Overdrawn At The Memory Bank was mastered by long time Audio Justice collaborator Dave Wooster, whose sound engineering credits include Van Morrison and Gary Moore. It was Dave who Dan drafted in to assist with the recording of a Christmas single in 2008 to benefit CLIC Sargent, a charity helping children and young people with cancer. A national radio campaign was launched, designed to encourage aspiring vocalists to take part in an X-Factor style contest, and eventual winners were given the opportunity to sing lead vocals on the festive song that Dan had penned. The resulting single, 'It's Christmas Time (In The Morning)', continues to raise valuable funds for this worthy cause.

With positive encouragement from critics and happy iTunes customers alike, Dan set to work songwriting again, and is in the throes of recording the next Audio Justice album House Of Cards. The album represents a real development in Dan's songwriting style, and a diverse range of influences can be heard in the new tunes. Typically, he is playing the lion's share of instruments himself, however, he has enlisted the assistance of arguably one of the most respected drummers in the business; Carlos Hercules.

Carlos has shared the stage with some of the world's biggest artists, including George Michael, Alicia Keys, Stevie Wonder, Bryan Adams, Eurythmics, Jamiroquai and Kelly Clarkson. He has been Beverley Knight's drummer of choice for the past 12 years, and has played some of the world's most prestigious venues (he was the first drummer to play at the new Wembley Stadium). His involvement in the House Of Cards project is an exciting development in the Audio Justice story so far, and Dan is looking forward to the release of the new album.

The debut Audio Justice album Overdrawn At The Memory Bank is available to download directly from the online stores of iTunes, eMusic, Napster and Rhapsody. House Of Cards is scheduled for release later this year.

AUDIO JUSTICE Press Cuttings

"This is a very accomplished album that the band, or Dan as he's otherwise known, can be very proud of. It's quite amazing that some major label hasn’t snapped Audio Justice up. This is really good stuff." – PowerPlay Magazine

"These songs are a radio-friendly amalgam of fashionable influences that somehow manage to generate their own identity, partly thanks to the unexpected dollops of funky electric guitar. The musicianship is spot-on." – Sound on Sound Magazine

"The new Audio Justice album should be used to beat to death every apathetic A&R man in the country and then listened to by everyone everywhere at least once! 5/5" – Kerrang magazine

"Dan Furr is like the UK's very own Dave Grohl; writing, recording and playing everything himself! And the end product sounds just as good as Foo Fighters!" – Heart FM

"This high standard of musicianship is an inspiration to all. Overflowing with quality songs. A real breath of fresh air for rock. Awesome!" – Killer Dynamite magazine

"The album starts with 'Overdrawn' before moving onto one of the album's highlights, 'Perfect Lovesong'. If the Foo Fighters had released this it would have been a dead cert hit; a gentle summery song with class written all over it." – PowerPlay Magazine"

"A remarkable record and definitely required listening; Dan Furr plays all sorts of instruments and uses them well on each song. Very high quality." – Zig Zag eZine
