Has iTunes struck the deathblow for the classic album format by giving consumers the power to pick and choose which songs they can download? This blog article explores the attitude of artists and consumers towards the album as an artform, and looks at a recent court battle between Pink Floyd and their label EMI in respect of the sale of individual songs on music download services.

A few weeks ago, the Eigenharp, billed as the world’s most expressive musical instrument, was launched at the Winter NAMM show. A couple of months beforehand I was invited to the official press launch at the BBC’s legendary Maida Vale studios in London.
